This way it won't be 'Go Goa' for long

For thousands around the world who dream of lounging in the sandy beaches of Hawaii, Goa has been the perfect substitute for years. However, with a number of incidents emerging into the limelight in the past couple of years, the latest one being the killing of a 15 year old British teen, Scarlett Keeling Goa is soon losing its tag of being a paradise. Goa has always been known for its idyllic lifestyle, yet that’s not the attitude one would expect from the local police. Most cases of deaths are dismissed as random incidents and only pressure from the family of the deceased proves it otherwise.

In the case of Scarlett Keeling as well, her death was initially written off as a case of drowning until her mother demanded a second autopsy and it was revealed that she may have been raped but definitely murdered and have even arrested three suspects. Families with similar cases of mysterious deaths of family members are now keen to unravel the real cause and suspect foul play.

Though the prevailing lifestyle of casual sex and where getting drugs is as easy as buying your groceries is not something to rave about nothing justifies the deaths. Goa, always known as one of the safest places is showing its evil side now and this bring no good to anyone. What can only be hoped is that people are more cautious with whom they interact with and the Goa Police pulls their socks up before the loss to the image of Goa is irreparable.

Yes, Goa's image has taken a major blow as a tourist's paradise with this incident. There had been such sporadic incidences happening in the last few years.

In this case where a minor had been allegedly raped and battered to death, the focus had solely on being the murder itself and the victim's mother going to the media crying for help. However, most of us couldn't notice the wisdom of the mother herself (who is an apparent junkie and with tattoos all over her body) who brought her minor daughter along with her. It is beyond any doubt that she didn't have any knowledge about the activities of her daughter in Goa. Besides, what were the both doing there for so many months? I won't be surprised that the mother-daughter duo engaged in rave parties, drugs and orgies while being together.

Goa needs a massive cleanup now.

Goa police have shamed me because I narrated an incident to so many friends that happened with me a few years back when I went there along with my friends. More so, it happened in the Anjuna Beach where this murder and attempt to cover it up by the police took place. The bag where we put our clothes, wallets, mobiles before going for a swim in the sea was stolen despite a friend was keeping a watch on it. We reported this to the police and we got it back within one hour. I thought Goa police was the best in India. Not anymore.

Yeah absolutely. The way things are going, Goa will soon lose it’s charm for foreign tourists. The sheer nexus between the Russian/Israeli mafia and the police is resulting in the spiralling drug trade and the illegal land deals. This is slowly leading to the degeneration of law and order in Goa which is manifesting itself in the increasing crime rate.
